Toilets: Comfortable clean and efficient
The toilet is getting a lot of attention by manufactures who are striving to make the most basic fixtures more accommodating.
Toilets are available in 14 inch and 17 inch heights. The 17 inch height is the standard height in public restrooms, the extra height makes it easier to get on and off.
Most major brands are improving their flush at 1.6 gallons per flush which is the legal flush. Manufacturers are now marketing the .8 gal flush which conserves when only solid waste is not present.
Most toilets will dispose of basic waste including female products, although toilets may dispose of most products remember the drain may not be able to handle some waste products…..especially paper napkins and baby wipes.
Pressure has the power
Pressure assisted toilets move waste with the fewest clogs, because of their powerful thrust. Due to their power gravity type toilets don’t come close.
Better is usually noisier
The loudest of our pressure-assisted toilets emitted an emphatic “whoosh” as they worked. Gravity and vacuum models were much quieter. While that typically means less-effective flushing, some gravity toilets, worked nearly as well as the pressure-assisted models with far less fanfare.
Dual-flush requires discretion
Dual-flush toilets are great for saving water, the .8 gal flush is for removing liquid only. What type of toilet works best for you?
Gravity Toilets:
Good for low pressure water supply, quiet and a proven design. The water drops into the bowl from the tank to move the waste down the drain.
Pressure Assisted Toilets:
Good where clogs are likeliest, large families, kids, rental units, heavy use, public restroom, restaurant. Creates high flushing power, pressure is created when water displaces air within a sealed tank and causes the water to thrust waste forcefully into the drain.
